Yuba River Rafting - North Fork Yuba
The North Fork of the Yuba has always been a river guide favorite for fun
and exciting big water in Californias northern Sierra Nevada mountains.
The Yuba River rafting scenery is tops with its lush forested banks and its whitewater is fantastic! The
gold rush is still going strong on the Yuba and youll see it as you raft by gold
miners in the canyon. Downieville is one of the best outdoor adventure towns in the west and
is only a short drive from our base camp. There is no better weekend adventure than rafting the Yuba and riding the Downieville Downhill on a mountain bike! Come see why so many paddlers consider the Yuba
River a favorite whitewater destination in California.
****The North Fork of the Yuba River is the best springtime class 4 river in northern California. Book your 2008 trip with us and find out why!

1 DAY TRIP- MAYTAG SECTION
- The “Maytag” section of the Yuba River rafting trip is a classic springtime rafting experience. Check-in at Convict Flat Day use area at 10:00 AM on the morning of your trip. You’ll be geared up and driven to put-in where our staff will give a safety orientation and paddling instruction. We’ll launch and run the upper section of whitewater including “Ramshorn” and “Gauge” rapids. We’ll stop for lunch at our base camp where a delicious buffet lunch will be served. After lunch we’ll head down the lower section of class 4 rapids including “Two Pair” and “Royal Flush”. We’ll pull over to scout the crux of the run “Maytag Rapid” an intense class 4+ cascade which everyone has the option to raft or to walk around. After this there’s “Son of Maytag” lurking around the next bend of the Yuba River. Take out is 2 miles downstream where our bus will meet us and drive us back to Convict Flat. Plan to be back to your car by 4:30 P.M.

1 DAY UPPER TRIP - For experienced paddlers We'll meet at Convict Flat Day use area at 9:30AM and head to the best whitewater on the upper sections of the North Yuba River. Due to varying weather and river conditions during the spring we leave it up to our guide's discretion to take the group to the upper run that has the best flows on the day of your trip. Each section has a window of optimum flow and we'll adjust the trips accordingly.
During high water, we'll run the biggest rapids of the Maytag section in the morning, eat lunch and then drive upstream to put-in on Moss Canyon class 4+ action! During Medium flows we'll run Moss Canyon in the morning, eat lunch and then run the challenging Rosasco Ravine section with several class 5 rapids. Low water conditions let us start at Downieville and run Rosasco and Maytag in one day. On some days we'll take expert paddlers up to run class 5 Wild Plum with a stop for lunch halfway through.
All Paddlers should have previous experience and be strong paddlers, agile in the raft and good swimmers. This trip involves extensive shuttling so get ready for a long day- but it is well worth the effort!
HALF DAY UPPER TRIP -Add a second day of class 4 and 5 whitewater to your one day Maytag run- The rapids of the Upper North Yuba are some of the finest in the west. Moss Canyon features a narrow corridor laced with non-stop whitewater and stunning scenery. You'll raft many blind drops and complex rapids that require precise paddling. This is some of the most best whitewater that we know of... and great to do after a day of honing your paddling skills on the class 4 Maytag section. Lunch is not included but we will be off the river by 1:00 so you can grab something to eat in the town of Downieville, CA.
Towards the end of the season we will switch our upper trips to the fantastic Rosasco Ravine section below Downieville. This section features some class 5 rapids and one portage that requires good footwork. Don't Miss out on this action while you're in the Downieville Area!
